The first of a series of health-related educational shorts produced by the Disney studios and the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs for showing in Latin America. It was also the only one to use established Disney characters (the Seven Dwarves).
In this propaganda short, the viewers are taught about how the mosquito can spread malaria. A young mosquito flies into a house and consumes the blood of an infected human. She then consumes the blood of a healthy human, transmitting the disease into him. It turns out that this is actually a film within a film and the Seven Dwarves are watching it. They volunteer to get rid of the mosquito by destroying her breeding grounds. Written by Coolguy imdb

Did he just say spray oil in water? The bbc would love these? video!
@WyczesanyBober So we can spray the oil on their breeding? grounds. Good thinking.
Gee when they said Disney did what he had to in order to make back the money sucked up by the? production of Fantasia during the war they weren’t kidding. A lot of the stuff he made for the Office of the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs was never meant to be seen by North American eyes. This was all for the Latin countries, like Panama, where Malaria was a huge problem.
Too many mosquitos, not enough oil.? WE MUST INVADE MIDDLEAST! ]:D
… NOT THE MOSQUITO’S FAULT!!!? IT’S THE PLASMODIUM FALCIPARUM THAT IS THE TRUE CAUSE OF MALARIA!!!!
BP was just busy ending malaria!?
I am terrified of Dopey. Not only does he keep a meat cleaver concealed in his sleeve, (what else could? be in there?) but he also sprays just about everything else around him with pesticides before finally getting a single mosquito. He also keeps a frog under his hat, in the event that he runs out of things to murder.
what would’ve happened if the meat cleaver’s edge was facing the other way.
this cartoons make? good use for health education by the way.
during WW11 disney and other animation companies had a contract with the government to make propaganda films in order to not get drafted. films like this came about, they did not want to make these films but its either that or die on the front lines.?
lol? oil
i? saw it in my class today..natural science..
)
pour? oil on the water and bury your cans in the yard.
Disney, providing sound environmental advice since 1943!
oil…? well thats one way of killing everything
-___- darn mosquitoes.?
bitch? mosquitos
why can’t we have good animated propaganda to teach our kids useful things instead? of stupid Disney channel making them want to be like Hanna Montana and feel bad if they’re not beautiful or have some sort of talent?
Not saying this is a good way of spreading a message though. lol spreading oil on the water now would alert the EPA XD
I like how? abandoning a house= tornadic destruction.
@CalStrackplays yeah i know, it makes it kinda funny? tho
@Hypastpist only girl? mosquitos suck blood, hence it’s female.
thumbs up if you saw this in a? geograhy class
@thatstranger95 i? saw it in my class today
wow…?
figures its a female…?
@31operafan There is no effective malaria vaccine yet. It’s difficult to vaccinate against a eukaryotic cell & the parasite mutates readily to bypass the changing immune system. The eradication of malaria in the States was largely due to tons of DDT & other insecticides and the draining of southern wetlands for development.? But yes, we still have a long way to go to help the rest of the world, both in understanding the mosquito an the parasite.
Is it? just me or youtube is getting slower..
